With the start of athletic practices on the campus of Crofton High School we will need to have a plan in place for the arrival and departure of athletes to ensure we are following guidelines from the AACPS Office of Athletics and the Anne Arundel County Health Department.  Athletes may start arriving for practice 15 minutes before the scheduled time and will form lines at their check in spot.  When forming lines please space 6 feet apart, once checked in you will report to the designated area for your sport.  Once practice is completed athletes must leave campus immediately.

A few things to remember……

  1. All athletes must be registered on Family ID and approved. Physical form, Covid form and insurance card are uploaded to your registration.
  2. AACPS coaches and staff will always wear a mask/face covering while interacting with student-athletes.
  3. Coaches/athletic staff will take attendance at each in-person session using an AACPS-approved form. This form will include self-reported temperature, exposure, and symptom checks. Athletes who experience any Covid like symptoms are asked to stay home.
  4. Student-athletes will wear a mask/face covering when they are not engaged in physical exertion. Examples include but are not limited to when they are entering and exiting the facility, when they are on the sideline, when they use the bathroom, and when they are receiving treatment from a trainer.
  5. Athletes must provide their own water or sports drinks. It is recommended that they bring enough fluid to last their entire practice, 8 ounces for every half hour is recommended.
  6. Athletes are asked to bring their own equipment when possible.
  7. Restrooms will be made available at all times. To the extent possible, only one person at a time will use each restroom. AACPS operations staff will clean restrooms between sessions, working work with ADs based on a specific schedule for each facility. Athletes who are practicing outside will use the stadium restrooms and athletes practicing inside will use the bathrooms across from the main gym.
  8. Student-athletes will report to workouts in proper gear and immediately return home to shower at the end of the workout. Shirts must be worn at all times – no exceptions.
  9. If a parent or guardian is staying on campus during a practice they must stay in their car. Parents must be on time to pick up from practices as we do not want large groups congregating as they wait for rides.  Athletes who walk or ride a bike to practice must exit campus when practice ends.
  10. In the event of dangerous weather scenarios that occur after a session starts (ex: lightning strikes), staff and student-athletes who can’t leave campus immediately will move indoors to the largest indoor space that is located close to or has its own exterior entrance/exit point (typically a gymnasium/cafeteria/auditorium) while maintaining social distance and wearing masks until their rides arrive. ADs will ensure there is a plan in place to guarantee access to these spaces and is always available while students are on campus. Additionally, to help reduce the likelihood of having to house large numbers of staff and students indoors, the county and or individual schools may proactively cancel practice sessions based on weather forecasts.
  11. Student-athletes may be removed from these out-of-season opportunities for health/safety concerns or for discipline issues. Being removed from these out-of-season opportunities during the fall semester does not necessarily impact eligibility for sport seasons during the spring semester.
